About Bikoy
Victor Villanueva is a 20 year-old, college senior at the University of the Philippines - Diliman taking up BA Film & Audio-Visual Communication. He currently resides in Quezon City, Philippines. Most people call him by his nickname, Bikoy.
His mother and father come from Bulacan and Cavite, respectively. He spends some time with his family in their respective hometowns in the said provinces. He has one younger brother, Gino. His family currently fosters a baby girl named Tisay.
He is actually an introverted shy boy, though he has learned how to overcome that at times, especially when he is tasked to publicly speak to other people. He enjoys the company of good friends. He is also a morning person, who loves waking up at dawn. You could take that to mean that he’s not fond of the night life as much as his fellow young people. He’s not very sporty, though he enjoys and practices swimming whenever he has the chance.
He enjoys taking photographs, writing, watching films and traveling. He also enjoys eating Chinese food and Filipino dishes with coconut milk. He enjoys acting ocassionaly for his Mass Comm friends’ various productions. He dreams of being able to travel all around the Philippines and the world. He dreams of setting up and managing a Filipino film production outfit. He dreams of a free, just and progressive Philippines.
Bikoy is currently a Councilor in the University Student Council of UP Diliman. Before that, he was part of his college’s Student Council as Film Department Representative, under his university’s leading militant political party, Student Alliance for the Advancement of Democratic Rights - UP (STAND-UP). He ran for college Chairperson as his party’s standard bearer the year after but lost to an independent candidate. He is currently the alliance’s Secretary General.
Aside from his political affiliations, he is also a member of two organizations in his college, UP Mass Communicators Organization (UP MCO) and UP Cinema Arts Society (UP CAST), where he served as public relations director and treasurer, respectively, when he was a sophomore. He is also currently a resident fellow of the Upsilon Sigma Phi.
He attended high school at Ateneo de Manila, where he graduated with second honors in 2004. He was his high school semi-honors class’s youngest member, which probably earned him the stigma of being childlike, according to some. Aside from that, he was also his class’s vice-president during first year and third year. He was part of the high school’s official student publication, Hilites Magazine, in his four-year stay at Ateneo, where he was layout editor during junior year, and managing editor in senior year.
Bikoy attended grade school at Our Lord’s Grace Montessori where he graduated valedictorian in 2000.
He admits to writing this pseudo-coherent profile page himself, as modestly as he could without leaving out details that are, themselves, part of his blog entries’ context since he started blogging on October 2000.
