From a brief absence

Exams are over, thankfully. The second term has ended so there’s nothing more I can do about my grades. Anyway, I was busy playing FFX on PS2 that’s why I negleced blogging for a while. But then we just borrowed the cd, so now the owner’s taking it back. So there. Back to this computer again.

I’ve finished downloading Adobe Premiere 6.5 and Adobe AfterEffects 5 so the next thing I need to do is to install some video capture drivers and stuff and ask my mom to give me the VHS player they aren’t using in their room and then see if there’s an extra TV in the storage room (any TV will do, really as long as it has audio-video sockets or something). And then, I have my video-editing studio.

Bummer. We have to go to the dentist this morning.

Stop being so witchy

We didn’t have our dental check-up. The clinic we went to didn’t want to accept our health insurance that should’ve gotten us a free dental consultation. That’s okay. I have an admirable set of teeth anyway, as all the dentists who have seen it said. If only my gums don’t bleed sporadically often.

I gave up on installing the video-capture deivce we bought in Singapore last year. I’ve tried installing it a couple of times but it would seem that it isn’t compatible with Windows XP. Oh well.

Just been to mass at UP. As usual, it was the foreign priest who presided the mass. Everybody could barely understand him. He speaks in a European-accent English and he always seem to have a big blob of phlegm in his throat. And the reader as well. She’s an old lady. I’m sure she can speak normally. But each and every Saturday night, she speaks like a witch, trying to sound religiously eerie in a monotonous rhythm. Agh. Sorry for complaining about mass. Can’t help it. I wonder why I feel most despiritualized during masses. Strangely, it is at masses when I feel very agnostic. Everything just seems to be a stupid religious ritual. Don’t get me wrong though, I have the strong faith in Him. Did I just sound like a hypocrite?

My own studio

I’m exuberantly happy today. The exams were not that hard, and more than that…

I just got my IOmega HipZip digital audio player to work! Man, I had that since last year and I only got to use it now. And I’m happy about it. :)

Next. Well, after some tinkering, I was also finally able to get my PC microphone to work. And not only that, I just found out how to use the Windows Movie Maker installed in my computer. So, with my webcam, I used my microphone and recorded a short clip (with sound) and played with Movie Maker for a couple of minutes.

Then I remembered what I dreamed of at times. I wanted to become a film producer/director aside from being an actor. My enthusiasm came back so I immediately started downloading an illegal version of Adobe Premiere on the net :P. Then I remembered that when we were in Singapore, we did buy a video-adapter thing with a software that can transfer analog video into your computer. See?! Even with our old analog video camera, I can edit and make movies! I’m so happy!

We’ve often had films as our projects in school. With the tools I have, I can easily make movies at home without spending a FORTUNE at video-editing shops. They are unbelievable, they charge about 10 dollars an hour of editing. And a short movie can take about 5 hours. Imagine the cost! And now, I almost have my own studio in my own room!!

Second term exams

I will be taking our exams later. I’m just waiting for the school bus to pick me up right now. Unlike the other times when I really didn’t sweat studying for the exams because I pass them (even ace them) nonetheless anyway, I really studied this time. I want to get a second-honor card this term.

Anyway, my dad got back from Spain last night.

Okay. I think the bus is there…

Get your copy

We released the second issue of Hilites Magazine today. I hope you got your copy (if you’re from the high school). If not… I don’t know. Grab a high schooler and borrow his Hilites. A few students don’t bother reading it anyway. Sadly.

Damn that lechon at Lulu’s in school. It’s so scrumptious, I often have it for lunch. But it’s pig fat! Chunks of crispy pork fat. Not good for me or for anyone. Deadly.

Hm. Oh. GMA and ABS-CBN’s late Monday-night documentaries never fail. Excellent job. Tonight’s issue of ABS-CBN’s The Correspondents is about non-formal educators. Those who volunteer to teach street-children and some soldiers who volunteer to teach illiterate farmers in the far provinces. GMA’s I-Witness on the other hand is a documentary of a the quality of transportation in Philippines through a journey traversing the whole island of Luzon. Something like that, but it was much better than how I described it. Both were very good. These kinds of programs should be the ones aired on primetime, not empty monotonous telenovelas. How I love waking up at 11 PM.

Too much fun and no work

Usual day. I didn’t join my English group-mates at shooting our music video. I’m quite certain it’d end up with nothing. They like having fun. Yes that’s fine. But too much fun and no work sucks. And it is very frustrating as well. I didn’t want to get frustrated. So I left them to shoot by themselves. I’m not free-loading or anything. I’m doing the poster and the CD and I’ll be composing and singing our original composition (unless they insist on keeping our song rap) with Kenny. Agh. Never mind.

I am back at my computer. My 19-inch monitor isn’t back yet but my mom’s officemates installed a temporary monitor. Though I really miss my 1600×1200 screen resolution, I’m quite fine with this one as of now.
