Boracay Day 2

The weather is horrible tonight. It’s raining and the winds are really strong. I’m quite a walking distance from our resort and I was kind of scared because the winds I had to oppose were typhoon-like winds. Ah, anyway, I’m at the same net cafe now.

The weather wasn’t really that good today. We woke up and it was raining. I was planning to go walk the whole 4 kilometers of White Beach in the morning but I had to stay in our room the whole morning because it was raining. But fortunately, right before lunch time, the rain stopped so my mom, my brother and I walked to the beach.

Victor, Mama and Gino at the beachTo my dismay, the sea has crept inland and there was barely 2 meters of dry sand along the coast. Plus, the sky looked like it was going to shower us again soon and the waves reached heights of more than 5 feet. Nevertheless, I still went swimming so I left my sandals on the 2-meter wide beach. Swimming this morning was like being agitated in a washing machine with all those strong waves. Anyway, by the time I went back to the 2-meter wide beach, my sandals were gone. A strong wave probably swallowed it into the ocean. Great.

Anyway, I didn’t walk barefoot. My mom just bought me a pair of cheap beach slippers at one of the nearby stores. After lunch, it started raining again so I just napped in the resort room for about two hours.

At about three in the afternoon, the sun finally showed up so I immediately hurried off to the beach and started my walking. The tide has receded so the beach was really wide again. I walked for about two hours along the stretch of white sand beach from the south end to the north part. It was fun. Just walking. I even went past the limestone cliffs to some other secluded beach to the north. Haha. Anyway, there weren’t that many people in the beach as I expected. probably because summer was at its end already (obviously!). Hey, I remember seeing the actress who played Sally in “Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan”. They were taping some show and she was lying on the beach with two male models. Hm, what else? Uhh, just watched people frolick in the sand and riding the waves.

That was basically my day today. I hope I can do something else tomorrow. Hopefully, I can convince my mom to let me scuba dive for the first time.

Boracay Day 1

Hello there! I am here in Boracay right now at some cozy net cafe. See! I do this just to update. I better make this quick because it costs 70 pesos an hour here.

Boracay is spectacular! It has a wide, wide stretch of white sand beach. And there seems to be a lot to do here, even if I am mostly going to be by myself for five days.

We arrived at Kalibo Airport at about 1:30 in the afternoon then someone picked us up and we drove off about 70 kilometers northwest to Caticlan. From there, we rode a motorized banca to Boracay Island on rough waters. Probably because the recent storm, Chedeng has barely left the country. The boat docked at Tambisaan, in the eastern part of the island so we needed to take a tricycle to the western side, where the world-famous 4 kilometer long stretch of white sand beach is, to our resort.

The resort is not really a beachfront resort so it is still a couple of minutes worth of walking before you get to the beach.

Gino and Victor Victor

We rested a bit at our room in the resort then I went off to the beach by myself. Simply spectacular. Even if the weather was not really that good and even though it was really, really windy. I walked and walked for about an hour till I had to go back to the resort. I got lost! I tried going through different alleys and met dead-ends. I kept walking for about half an hour more till I got to the island’s circumferencial road so I just traced my way back to our resort. Hah! But it was fun… getting lost.

Anyway, I will be here till Wednesday and most of the time, I will be alone so I am going to check the tourist office out to see what kinds of activities I can do here till then. My younger brother only plans to stay at our resort room and play PS2, so I do not have to look after him.

I do not really want to go explore the night life here now since I am alone. Maybe next time. I think I will just enjoy myself here for now.

Okay, bye!

Busy again, busy again

I am currently busy laying out the freshman’s guide issue of our school magazine. And I must, must submit this tomorrow morning, before I pack tonight and we leave tomorrow for Boracay.

Namumulubi na naman

Anyway. I’m totally broke. I spent the last of my money on another expensive lunch at Thai in a Box during last Friday’s review class lunch break. You see, we try not to eat at the same place twice for lunch this summer.

Also, I had to miss some hours off class because I had to do some work in school. Yes, school magazine work. By the time, I accomplished the job, I had to take a tricycle back to my review classes. Nakalimutan ko na wala na pala akong pera, so pagdating sa destination ko, nagmakaawa na lang ako sa tricycle driver. Sabi ko wala na talaga akong pera. As in walang wala. Ayun pinababa na lang ako, mukang galit. Haha.

Car ignoramus

Review classes yesterday was okay. We had lunch at Sweet Inspirations and I was stupid enough to succumb to gluttony and give in to their Mongolian barbecue buffet. Damn that was 220 pesos for a day’s lunch.

Anyway, it’s a good thing Jess is also taking review classes with the same whole day schedule as me. Now I don’t need to commute home because he has a car and he said I can ride with him every time. Nice! And he drives it too.

I’m not really into cars, so I’m an ignoramus on most things about cars. Cars are just transportation machines for me. So when my classmates talk about cars, I’m out of the conversation. No big deal though. All I want in a car is that it moves and is efficient at it. I don’t even want to have a car yet. I don’t know how to drive and I’m in no hurry to learn, more am I not in a hurry to have one. I’m only 15 anyway.

But then, I’m beginning to get tired of commuting so I do dream of having one too sometimes. You know, those kind of dreams you can live without being fulfilled as of now.

Juvenile snatchers

I didn’t attend my review classes yesterday because I had to finish the layout of our SEP issue. Anyway, I was in the jeep on the way home. May dalawang binata na nakasabit. Tapos nagpara sila.

Chinese Victor

I just received my certificate/diploma for completing the basic Mandarin course in Languages Internationale last Thursday. Oh well. The next thing I plan to do to continue my Chinese studies is to watch a lot of Chinese movies with English subtitles, listen to music from Chinese artists, then probably I’ll go buy a teach-yourself Chinese book. Then maybe I’ll take up Mandarin as my foreign language course in college. Oh, and good thing my cousin knows how to speak and write Chinese.
