After the Southern Leyte mudslides, there’s the devastating Iran earthquake where up to 40,000 people are expected to have died and tens of thousands more were left homeless. Then there’s the China gas leaks that killed more than 200 people and displaced more than 40,000. Then another mudslide incident in California — that’s aside from the earthquake that occured there too just recently. Also, we just had the US mad cow scare and two new seperate cases of SARS in China and Taiwan.

Today, Sen. Panfilo Lacson files his certificate of candidacy amidst disunity in the opposition. Also, popular television journalist Sen. Noli de Castro accepts administration party’s offer to run as Pres. Arroyo’s vice-president.
