12th Last School Day

We had some debate exercises during English class. It wasn’t really serious, so it was all in fun. Heheh.

This week is Christ Week in school. There was a high school mass and a lengthy program at the covered courts this morning. Right after that, we had our TD tutoring session at Nangka. Today’s the second to the last TD session day.

Today wasn’t a tutoring session actually. It was supposed to be a sportsfest for the kids but it turned out to be just an hour or so of playtime.

I was walking around the school grounds when I saw a long line of little kids. I approached one of them and asked why they were lining up. According to the kid, it was their bathroom break, and they are lined up to the comfort room.

One of them saw me holding a camera and asked me to take a picture of them. When I said okay, the entire line of kids raced towards me and… well, posed. Hahah. Cute.

I was with some of my classmates at one corner of the school grounds and this man in an oversized red shirt approached and asked one of my classmates something. I realized what he was doing so we shooed him away… in a sarcastic way. He was peddling drugs. Whoa. A drug peddler in a public elementary school…

Debating… sobrang nakakabangag.
What format are you guys working on?
TD looks fun… I miss doing it (teaching public schoolchildren) even if my patient runs hell low. But drug peddlers? God.

[...] First, last Saturday, I went with the guys from Universitas to tutor a handful of elementary school children at Krus na Ligas Elementary School. It’s been years since I did this. Back in senior year in Ateneo High School, one of our course requirements was to tutor elementary school kids at a designated public school for almost an entire school year. We made our own lesson plans every week and brought our own props, papers, and visual aids. Volunteering for Universitas Project Forge isn’t as demanding, because all materials are apparently ready beforehand. I wish I could do this every weekend, but all my other commitments won’t permit me, unfortunately. [...]
