Sometimes I hate girls
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this but I’m taking CWTS (Civic Welfare Training Service) for the summer. We had A CWTS orientation talk last Monday wherein representatives from the various NGO’s we were going to be assigned talked about their specific NGO’s.
There was one speaker from a feminist NGO who particularly caught my attention because I disagreed with the things she preached for around twenty minutes.
First she was talking about globalization. And how it was a failure, how it continues to impoverish poor countries, etcetera. I’m not going to say she is wrong, because I haven’t read up enough on the subject. But I have strong reservations on believing she is right.
Maybe this is an effect of taking Economics 11. There used to be a time when I easily sympathized with leftist propaganda and all that. After Economics 11, I don’t know, I guess it taught me to be more critical of their anti-globalization rhetorics. Sure, I despise the Arroyo administration and all their failures as much as militant groups do. But when it comes to globalization, I don’t believe globalization is a failure. The failure I see is the failure of our government and our people to adapt to the challanges posed by globalization. It’s our failure to use globalization to our advantage. It’s about efficiency in productions, comparative advantages etcetera. Protectionist economic policies will just do us more harm than good in present times. Hay, this debate can go on but let me leave it at that for a while.
So anyway, after she talked against globalization, she invited everyone to join some women-power rally on Wednesday (today). I was about to ask if the boys in CWTS could join the rally when she answered the question herself without being asked.
Um. Okay. What the hell?
Let me share with you this. Because this is a personal irritant on my part which never fails to pull some strings of emotions and memories. Okay, you can say that girls “bullied” me and the other boys in our class when we were in grade school. We were around 40 in class (honors section). Only ten (10) were boys, the rest (30) were girls. Yes, tyranny of the majority. I really fucking hated how they always ganged up on boys every time one of us got into a petty argument with one of them. I swear, they were so effing dumb ang annoying. And what’s worse, every time a case gets to the teacher, the girls always win because the female teacher always sympathizes with them. The girls, when the advantage calls for it, always, always, always project themselves as the pitifully oppressed, even though they are the ones who often initiate the hateful exchange of physical and emotional hits. And when we boys strike back as a form of retaliation, they always invoke that bakla ang pumamapatol sa babae rhetoric. Ugh! It really infuritates me, ‘tang ina. Mean girls!! Nako, this is retarded, nag-iinit dugo ko by just typing this up. Call this trauma.
This is why I can not make myself fully sympathize with women-empowerment protests. Because women are sometimes guilty of the same gender-stereotyping they are fighting against, and most of all, some of them can be as mean as hell.
Anyway, I was assigned to CAP (Concerened Artists of the Philippines). Let’s see what work I’m up to.

i also disagree with some of the points given by that lady. i don’t believe that globalization is all in all destructive and pointing out that we should close our borders and try to be self-sufficient.
after taking up economics 11, it sort of changed my perception on globalization.
Siguro yun nga ang problema sa bansa natin. Lack of Education. dahil sa informations fed by their fellow rallyistas about globalization, na-aalienate na rin sila. too bad.
Why don’t they attend an economics class siguro before going to a rally and muttering all these “assumptions”.

I really admire this site of yours.
Beautiful. Functional.
Did you do this by yourself?
duh
to clarify, i am not against the fight of feminists for equality. pero if its equality they want, then it is equality they should get, hindi yung many women still insist on preserving remnants of ‘inequalities’ whenever it is to their advantage, like that men should open doors for them, pamper them and all those ka-chivalry-han.
hi bikoy!
okay, first of all, i want to say that I AM A FEMINIST. so i guess that’s why this particular entry of yours prompted me to post something. (i read your blog regularly, i just don’t comment all the time. just when i have something to say. but kudos to you! your posts are always interesting.)
anyway, as i was saying… i am proud to be one because i truly believe that men and women should be treated as equals, that patriarchal values oppressing men and women should be abolished, and that the gender inequality scale should be balanced.
that said, i agree that what the lady had said is really not the best to promote the feminist movement. in fact, i’d go so far as to say that as a feminist, i cannot and do not identify with what she was preaching. i’ve always held the belief that the ball-breaking, no-men-allowed types of feminists are really no better than chauvinists because they both perpetuate inequality. i am an equal-world kind of feminist as is many other feminists i know.
so i guess what i’m trying to say is that while i understand how you’d feel that way, i want to ask you to rethink your opinions. please don’t form a judgment about feminism just because you’ve encountered the “wrong” type of feminist. feminism has many types, mottos, nuances, etc. but the core of it is to promote a society that is free from bias, a society where men and women can live side by side harmoniously despite their differences. it is a positive movement. if only people understand its vision clearly.
i hope you get my point.
anyway, that’s just my 2 cents worth.
Feminists do not want equality.
Men and Women have always been equals.
Feminists want SAMENESS.
Those who cry patriarchy are a bunch of liars playing the victim card so they can get privilages.
They also play around with words to mess you up so you think there are good feminists and bad feminists.
If a woman is a good woman, then she should not call herself a feminist.
Here is what feminists stand for, confirmed from their own web sites:
The Feminists should be EXPOSED for the ANTI-LIFE that they truly are.
The Feminists ACCEPT the FACTS that they are:
- Contraception Worshippers
- Abortion Worshippers
- Euthanasia Worshippers
- Easy Divorce Worshippers
These are the true CORE FEMINIST VALUES.
Feminism is NOT about giving women a better life.
Feminism represents the HARD CORE, ORGANIZED, ANTI-LIFE.
Western / Feminized nations like the USA and Europe are crying foul against immigration because their current Feminist Ruled culture is being overwhelmed by hardier, more reproductive, more solid FAMILIES.
The end result of a Feminist culture is DEVALUATION OF THE DIGNITY of LIFE: Depopulation, Legal Slaughter of Innocents, Wholesale Destruction of Families.
Feminism, the cultural way to a society’s self-destruction.

Even the new POPE Benedict XVI recently wrote a stinging article condemning Feminism as lethal to the Family and society without even mentioning the word Feminist:

This is the most complete and comprehensive collection of sayings right from the feminists themselves. What they really believe, and what their true goals and agendas are.
