Should stop eating those peanuts

Some of my Film 102 groupmates had this idea of wearing “costumes” for our group report yesterday. I wasn’t really keen on wearing a barong in school, so I just decided to wear my Chinese shirt with those knot-type buttons. Fancy but casual enough. Not too weird. Labo. Actually malabo talaga, the whole idea of wearing “costumes” while reporting. Hehe

Some of my blockmates and I went to SM after our last class. We saw Nasaan Ka Man. I liked it. Will write a reaction entry some time. Right now, I’m really sleepy. Good night.

Feature Picture #1

DATE: February 19, 2004
It was our second to the last Tulong Dunong session at Nangka Elementary School in Marikina. We didn’t tutor our students that day. I was wandering around the school grounds when these children saw me taking pictures. One of them asked me to take his picture. When I was about to do just that, his classmates rushed towards him to be in the frame. More photos here.

On funking and ousting

There was a concert and org fair last Tuesday night for the MassComm freshmen. Bad trip lang talaga at umulan nang malakas that night. We were barely halfway through the program when the rain started to pour hard. I was really frustrated. Everyone crowded under the two tents at the parking lot. Everyone’s exhibits were drenched in the rain. Frustrating talaga. Everybody really prepared for this event, lalu na siguro ‘yung student council. The rain didn’t stop for another hour or so, so everybody decided to pack up and cancel the event that night. Ire-reschedule raw ata.

I didn’t have any class the next day, Wednesday, but I still went to school that afternoon to photocopy some readings and to meet up with my Film 102 group for our group report on Friday.

Thursday was a lazy day. I dozed off in all of my classes, except in Comm 100 where we had this discussion, at nadala naman ako sa pakikipagdebate kaya hindi ako dinapuan ng antok.

At around noon time, when I just got off my Geog 1 class, there was a crowd at the AS lobby and the Gloriagate audio was being played. One of Samuel Ong’s lawyers was there. USC councilors were there too, together with their STAND-UP crowd, and a whole bunch of other concerned (?) students (like me?).

There was a point when they opened the floor for questions. One guy asked the panel what the alternatives are if ever the ouster of Gloria Arroyo becomes successful, and then Liwayway Chato said something like she can’t reveal who “their group” is grooming up to replace Arroyo because his (or her?) life would be in danger. And then one USC councilor spoke up and said there’s also a plan to form some sort of council of “patriotic and nationalistic” leaders to serve as an interim administration until the people gets to choose a new president. Something like that.

Wait… are we ousting Noli de Castro too? It bothered me somewhat that I sensed na may kanya-kanya at sari-sariling plano ang mga grupo sakaling mapatalsik si GMA. Isn’t de Castro supposed to replace Arroyo automatically? Towards the end of the open forum, one lady came up to say that what we need is a major overhaul of the political system because political power has always been a plaything/privilege of the elite.

Medyo naguguluhan ako. For now, can we not confuse the present issue with all other issues like land reform, UP budget cuts or whatever. Kasi hindi lahat nagkakaisa ng pananaw diyan. We all agree GMA cheated. Last year’s presidential election is a sham. And that is enough reason already. GMA should be out of Malacanang.

Remain vigilant!

It disgusts me that Malacanang is dismissing all the allegations from jueteng to electoral fraud simply as parts of a political desabilization plot by the opposition. It disgusts me even more when people buy this and are willing to ignore the issues, allow the issues to subside “for the sake of the country”.

Temporarily deprived

Uploading this from some internet nook at the shopping center.

For the nth time, sira na naman ang cable modem namin. Why does this keep happening to me?!

Anyway, you see, being online is a stress-reliever for me especially when I’m doing some work with the computer. Every twenty minutes or so, I pause for a break from whatever I’m typing or whatever I’m doing with the PC and then I’ll surf the internet. It’s a habit. And I can go insane when I’m deprived of being online. Well, not really.

CAST
Yesterday, I went to school to help my orgmates in CAST do some exhibit panels for our booth for this Tuesday’s freshmen night / org fair.

MCO
Finished the AVP of MCO through the help of AD’s editing this morning. My being unable to edit the video myself is prompting me to save up for my own equipment.

Then I was also doing our org brochure a while ago. I was stressing over it a kasi nagluloko printer namin. Eh I did the brochure on PageMaker so I knew I won’t be able to print it in a computer shop kasi wala namang PageMaker doon. Tapos my deadline is tomorrow. Agh. I was eventually able to print the thing, with ugly bluish ink.

Father’s Day
Pictures na lang.

Busy-busihan lang raw

Academic and org responsibilities piling up once again. I like keeping myself busy, however unnecessary sometimes. And as if the responsibilities of being an officer in my two orgs right now isn’t enough, I joined the student council volunteer corps again, but this time sa MassComm lang (masyadong malayo ang Vinzon’s). And then I’m even contemplating if I’ll join one more org. Uhm… ‘wag na lang. Masyado na ata akong napapasubo sa pagsali-sali.

Just some random blurt. I hate inter-film org rivalries in MassComm. It was supposed to end.

Finished shooting our org AVP yesterday, finally. The last part of the AVP will show us dancing at the AS steps. Haha. So we shot that yesterday afternoon. Buti na lang there were no classes. Few people, less humiliation.

Well, now I know. Kahit may mga konting deviations. Editing na lang bukas.

Nabayaran na?

The government yesterday “rescued” intelligence officer Vidal Doble, the man allegedly behind wiretapping Elections Commissioner Garcillano and recording his conversations with President Arroyo, from “detention” in San Carlos Seminary with Atty. Samuel Ong. Hours after he remained in Camp Aguinaldo under government custody, he issued a statement saying he was just forced to lie. Another Udong Mahusay, hm?
