Pretentious
Now that more people within my circle of contacts know about this site, I feel like I’d have to self-censor my thoughts first before uploading them in an entry. That’s sad. I feel like I can’t say just anything I might want to say, for fear of offending a friend or a relative or the government or whoever. Now that more people are going here, I feel like what I have to say must be a little more profound, relevant or interesting than just narrating mundane events in my every day life. Or that my opinions must be more rational than just emotional bursts of steam.
Well, I shouldn’t be complaining. This dilemma is a given when one blogs. It’s just that before, I was still able to vent out… say, frustrations on some people in school or something like that. Not a lot of people within my sphere of contacts knew about this site anyway so I felt more secure to say what I felt like saying about them. Now, it’s different. My blog was practically advertised on national tv, on a primetime newscast at that.
This doesn’t feel good. I feel like I’m going to become less of myself in this blog and more of a Bikoy who’s image is more palatable to the public.
Didn’t you realise that maybe there’s a particular novelty of your so-called “mundane” daily existence as juxtaposed to your random opinions on political matters? You don’t have to restrict yourself for fear of being irrelevant. If you’re really scared, you can always friends-lock LJ entries. ^_^
Yeah I caught you on Channel 7 featuring blog users like you and that dude, Quezon. Cool. huh! Hehe, I know how you feel. When they featured my site a few years ago, nimrodel was never the same. I never write entries that “might” offend. As you can see, my current entries are quite tame. I don’t even trust password protected entries .

of course a “palatable Bikoy” is more necessary now that a greater fraction of public knows about you, but then it may serve as a good output for voice when needed, you know, because more people get to hear you out.
but as you said, you need to be real careful now… ;D

Well, you definitely have to carefully consider your words more or contemplate what impact they may have but I don’t think you really need to change all that much. After all, if Bikoy is the reason why people read this blog then you owe it to them to be the truest Bikoy you can hope to be.

yeah ur right, and i do regret for having a blog using my name, maybe if i’d choose an alias or other nick it easier for me to vent out, rant and express myself more without censorship
