Kung ‘di mo lang ayaw

Lately, I find myself going to school on Wednesdays despite the fact that I do not have (never had) Wednesday classes since I entered UP. Last Wednesday was my MCO applicant-buddy’s formal interview at the tambayan so I had to be there for ’support’. She ended up crying like many of her co-applicants, but that’s all right. While waiting for her slot, I was at the CAST tambayan, bored like hell so I ended up ‘camwhoring’ with Eka with Kid’s cowboy hat. I like taking my picture with Eka. Oh, I was catching up on some Film 102 readings too, so it’s not as if I spent all my idle Wednesday hours in (rare) bouts of narcissism.

Thursday was relatively uneventful. I went home a little later than usual because Ate Fortune pleaded for us to attend a film lecturer’s lecture at the CMC auditorium at around 6 PM. I ended up leaving the talk halfway through anyway.

The final rites of this sem’s batch of MCO applicants was held yesterday at the same place where we were inducted a year ago when my batch was applying. Anyway, I can’t really talk about the final rites process much. There was a pool in the venue though, as always. I love swimming. I wish I could swim more often.

After the applicants took their oath, some of us went to Fiesta Carnival and rode the Viking. I’ve ridden a similar ride in Enchanted Kingdom but I was still caught unprepared for that stomach-churning ride. It was my first time on the Viking. I felt really sick after the experience. I threw up on the sidewalk on the way home.

Savings

I can save 300-400 pesos a month if I ride my bike to and from school every day.

We had an ES 10 (Engineering Science 10) exam last Monday. This time around, I didn’t feel too stupid. My last test was a disaster, ~40/100.

I headed off to the main library after the exam to renew an overdue book. I never got to finish Poon (Sionil Jose) in the more than one month it was with me. It was supposed to be my first offense pero ‘di ako natatakan ng ‘first offense’. Oh well, eh ‘di ayos. I wasn’t permitted to renew it though, so I’ll just have to re-borrow it some other time.

Walked to MassComm afterwards for a CAST and MCO general assembly.

I was really craving for Clover Chips yesterday. After our tango practical exams in Social Dance, I went off to Berkely Square along Commonwealth-Tandang Sora to buy three big bags of Clover Chips, which I consumed even before I got home for dinner last night (well, I shared it with people in school so I didn’t actually consume everything).

I also bought some materials for our pseudo-production design/lighting exercise for Film 112. Medyo naliliwanagan na ‘ko kung paano mag-lighting. Pero malabo pa rin talaga minsan tuwing sasabihin ni Sir Jamon na mali ‘yung lighting nung set namin and yet I really can’t understand what’s wrong with it. Well, we’re still learning.

Energy crisis?

It’s really frustrating that no matter how much I want to ride my bike to school, it’s simply just risky to bike along Commonwealth Avenue. I wish my house and UP were in Marikina, where there are paved bike lanes. I also wish MassComm and AS had parking slots for bikes.

Hulid bahid na ba ng kahabaan

We had an Egg-Drop Challenge activity for ES 10 class last Thursday. Groups were restricted to using just toothpicks, 5 plastic straws, two sheets of paper and glue. Wow, good luck constructing a protective egg vehicle with that. Brent and I did our vehicle (with much help from Ice), an hour before the deadline. Our vehicle looked like trash but at least it was able to protect the egg on the one-meter drop.

I don’t want to argue with them anymore after debating at their own message boards, but it looks like my Geog 1 group would have to interview Pro-Life Philippines for our report on Philippine population issues.

Masyado akong nawiwili.

We set-up our much-delayed UP MCO anniversary exhibit yesterday at the skywalk. Spent almost the entire day there. Haay. Ang kakaunting ipon ko nauubos. We had lunch at Likha Diwa sa Gulod that afternoon. My first time there. Continued working the rest of the day until we were hastily and grumpily shooed off for overstaying. ‘Di pa kami pinatapos. Looks like I would have to go there first thing Monday morning to finish everything off.

Poke, poke, poke

This sem’s batch of MCO applicants held their symposium this morning. It was about TV adaptations of comic books. I actually think they did better than us (nung applicants pa kami ng batch ko). After that, batch presentation nila. ‘Yun na ‘yon.

I asked the members to wear white today para sana sa isang pseudo-photo shoot para sa karagdagang pictures for our anniversary exhibit.

Lumang tango

I wore my Ateneo shirt yesterday. Wala lang, siguro. When I was still a college freshman in UP, I wanted to “hide” traces of my being an Atenean. I rarely introduced myself as having had studied high school in Ateneo. Not really because I was ashamed of it, certainly not. Pero, ayoko lang. It just didn’t feel right (I mean, wearing a school shirt while in another ‘rival’ school). Ginusto kong maging taga-UP talaga that I thought clinging in to my high school’s identity (too much) would be a hindrance. Anyway, yesterday, wala lang. I haven’t worn that Ateneo shirt for more than two years kaya naisipan kong isuot. ‘Yun lang. It felt nice.

Kahapon for Film 112, we presented our first segment study homework. ‘Di ko sineryoso ‘yung sa ‘kin kaya maraming puna, pero ayos lang. It was my first attempt. Our second segment study is an individual homework na naman. Wala pa ‘kong video camera so I’ll still borrow from my blockmates again. As much as possible, I don’t want to buy (or ask my parents to buy) a video camera yet. Masu-survive ko naman siguro ang Film 112 without my own camera.
