Five years of blogging

I’ve been blogging for five years (and two days) now. My first online journal entry was published October 20, 2000. I have been meaning to upload all my entries from then (I’ve backed them up in my computer), but every time I attempt to do it, I cringe at the things I’ve written before. I’ll do it some time, but for now, my blog archives only go back up to December 2001.

Second Year, First Sem Grades

My GWA (general weighted average) has been declining for the past three semesters (1.40 -> 1.50 -> 1.67 now). Tsk, tsk. I can give you excuses, but… nah, it’s my fault. (No, it’s not. Our Bio 1 prof was a very lousy lecturer and he never gave out any reading materials or references. Hmph. Hehe).

Tato de Ara Mina…

We had a sort of semender yesterday in MCO. But only around a dozen of us were present. But still, it was fun. It was held in Bev’s place in Taytay, Rizal.

Sana makahirit pa

When I woke up last Monday and realized that I was already on sembreak, I actually got worried that I’d just stay home the entire day (or the entire sembreak). I suddenly missed school, my blockmates and my orgmates.

“ERRANDS” AND A SHOOT
Monday afternoon, I decided to run a few errands as an excuse to get out of the house. I went to school supposedly to drop some letter at the post office in UP but I got bored queuing up so I just went to MassComm. Hung out for a while then I dragged Kid along with me to the QC Post Office to drop my letter and to receive the $10 payment for some stamps I sold at Ebay. After dropping by their apartment in Timog, I went with Kid to Cubao to purchase his plane ticket to Cagayan de Oro. Roamed around Gateway for a while then we went to Katipunan for another shoot of some broadcast students. They were still shooting the segment where AD was in, so Kid and I decided to walk to Magnet Cafe where we met with Patti, where we waited for my part. Yadda yadda… went to McDonald’s, went back to Magnet, finally shot the scene where I was in, then went to Starbucks, bumped into Kay, then we ended up at Shakey’s consuming their 100-peso soft ice cream heap. Wooh, I did not rot at home.

POST-PROD, ANOTHER SHOOT & A SLEEP-OVER
Tuesday. I went to Pasig to Jhen’s editing place for our Film 112 production editing, even though I still don’t know how to edit. I was just there for moral support. Ayos lang rin, it kept me from rotting at home. In the MRT on the way there, walang aircon at sobrang siksikan. Tsk tsk. Hehe. I had to leave by 3PM though to get to ES’s shoot on time. Commuted with Con until Quezon Avenue. ES and his friends picked me up by 4 then we went to some house near Banawe. The shoot lasted until past 9PM. After the shoot, I went to AD’s place for a sleep-over.

JUST ONE SHOT
Went home Wednesday morning still sleepy. Watched Shutter the previous night and talked with Kid until… morning, so I didn’t really get a lot of sleep. I was supposed to stay home the entire day, or tag along my mom on her own errands but my broadcast friends asked me to come back to AD’s place to be in one scene they forgot to shoot.

Thursday, I spent the entire day home, watching DVD’s, snacking all day and sleeping.

T-Shirt Hell

The shirts at T-Shirt Hell are so offensive, they’re hilarious! Too bad they’re not shipping to the Philippines.

Must not waste the days

I’m on sembreak now. Passed my last requirements last week. And although Sir Jamon is asking us to submit a re-edit/second cut of our Film 112 production next week, I’m practically on sembreak. What’s cool is classes will start still next month, November 9. One month break!

Brief rundown of stuff that happened last week. (Monday) Last shoot for our Film 112 production! I got soaked in flood and rainwater while walking home during Monday’s sudden heavy downpour. Isang matinding pagbibinyag sa bago kong sapatos. (Tuesday) I stayed up ’til morning cramming my Film 102 paper from page one. My 19-inch monitor flickered and died out on me so I’ve been using this years-unused 11-inch one since Tuesday. (Wednesday) Passed my Film 102 paper 30 minutes before the deadline. Went to see Dubai with my mom. I liked it. I would’ve cried if I was watching the movie alone. (Thursday) I spent almost the whole day with some broadcast college-mates doing their BC 121 (?) production about male sexuality (?). I acted on one of the production’s segments which was about being a 17 year-old virgin. I was Michael, the seventeen year-old virgin who didn’t want to take advantage of her girlfriend but ended up losing his virginity to a high school slut.

I still went to school last Friday for a CAST general assembly. We talked about the semender/semplanning activity next week. I also dropped by the main library to return weeks-long overdue books. That cost me almost fifty pesos.

By afternoon, after gathering at our tambayan, most of us in CAST commuted all the way to Sucat for Ella’s birthday party. Videoke and inuman ’til morning! Haha. We all went home the next day.

19th birthday party ni Ella

I’m actually scared I might waste my sembreak doing nonsense stuff.

Don’t stop movin’

I’ve been rewatching the Mano Po movies the entire day to try to get more insights and whatnot. I actually ignore the technical absurdities and fact-checking (I wouldn’t know if they do the rituals or the accents correctly anyway, I’m not Tsinoy), because they’re not really important when you’re trying to analyze something else (rigght). But gee, Kris Aquino turning into Susan Roces in a span of two decades is simply too… absurd.

Anyway, my grade school friends and I were at Justine’s tonight for her birthday. It was really, really nice seeing them again. I wish we could get together more often. I feel much better now.

Shouldn’t have worn orange

My Friday classes are done, so I wasn’t supposed to go to school today, but I did because I had to give something to Kim. I was supposed to go home right after but I decided to stay for a while. I bumped into Con, Jen and soon with other Film 112 classmates and got informed of another major mess-up in our bad luck-ridden production. That totally brought my mood to another low. I should’ve went home immediately or should have not gone to school at all. We all felt frustrated but realized we can’t do anything else but push through with the plans, though difficult.

To avoid dwelling too much over our Film 112 reshoots among our other problems, we all decided to just walk slowly all the way to the shopping center and have ice cream. We hung out for a while then we walked back to Mass Comm. Satisfied me for a while, but then I reminded myself that I had a Film 102 paper to start writing. I haven’t even finished reading my related literature. Instead of going home where I’ll just be distracted by my computer and its internet connection, I decided to do it at the MCO tambayan (yeah, like I wasn’t distracted there).

I left by 4PM to go with my parents to a dinner for Ninang Nel’s birthday. On my way out of Mass Comm, I bumped into Patti. I felt like I wanted a hug so I hugged her. Wala lang. Salamat. Anyway, we ate at some Thai restaurant along Macapagal Avenue. Food doesn’t seem to give me the same comfort as before. I still feel bad. I just want this semester to end, really.

I had another serving of ice cream at dinner so I feel sort of hyper right now. It’s almost 2 AM but I can’t sleep, though I really want to sleep off all the things that have been bothering me the past few days.
