I’m from UP
The College of Mass Communication will have an alumni homecoming today. Not that I’m an alumni. I just thought about a perception that many UP alumni don’t appear to be as passionate and proud about their alma mater as much as say, their Atenean counterparts. That UP’s alumni network isn’t as strong? Is that true? Or am I just basing it too much on UAAP basketball games.

they’re good in putting the uni in their resumés, but unlike atenean alumni, not v. generous in giving back to their alma mater. thank god for corporate sponsorships.
anyway, two years ago, i heard GMA went to SE’s alumni homecoming. malamang, pre-elections. x_X pero in fairness, i went to econ’s alumni homecoming of batch ‘81 (hahahaha) and it was well-attended rin naman. it was facilitated by soon-to-be-matrona-ish women who reminds me of the parents who facilitated the family council back in high school.
well well well! i think that a lot of our alumni kasi prefer working abroad…again, really inconsistent with our values and “principles” kuno as Iskolars ng Bayan. but anyway, i’ve just read a relevant article from FORUM (i think it’s Pres. Roman’s US trip) where she visited some groups of UP alumni there. i also read she was able to raise a total amount of $118,000 something from pledges…i’m not sure about the specifics, pero yun…wala lang!
not so many people attended. less than half the total CMC Alumni. Loren Legarda, Karen Davila and Ivan Mayrina were there.
late na sila nag-announce. just received the invitation last week by email and yung text message the night before para mag-RSVP. labo eh pauwi na ako probinsya nun. sana napaghandaan man lang naming mga taga-malayo, di ba? marami na kasing out of the loop…tsaka di pa ako alumna. hehehe. compre pa ako. nyahahaha.
