What is Halloween?
I didn’t grow up celebrating Halloween. When we were much younger, my brother and I didn’t go trick-or-treating around the subdivision, exactly because there wasn’t any celebration at all. It was only until a few years ago when suddenly the village and my elementary school started organizing halloween parties and trick-or-treating for kids. I still actually don’t see the point. The whole concept still seems alien and foreign to me. It appears to me that it is simply an attempt to copy what Westerners do and an excuse to needlessly spend money. Halloween is irrelevant.

Halloween is sooo one of my favourite holidays. It’s the perfect excuse to wear costumes and eat a lot of candy. Oyeh!
The same can be said of Christmas. I’m not Catholic nor Christian, and I shouldn’t be celebrating Christmas. But heck, it’s fun and everyone’s happy, so no biggie.
Gastos lang yan. Besides, all our relatives who’ve passed away are in the Visayas. So long for a two-way plane ticket. =_=
I can see dead people, really.
I think the story goes like this… traditionally it was believed that the ghost and spirits wandered around on halloween. One way to safely traverse amoung them was to dress up so they would not recognize you. I’m not sure where the candy comes in. Halloween kinda freaks me out anyways.
