Finalists of the Philippine Blog Awards
The list of finalists for the 2007 Philippine Blog Awards are out. I have been aware that I was included in “shortlist” (which is actually a long one) of official entries in the Personal Blog category, but I never gave it much thought until Benj Espina informed me in one of his comments that Bikoy.net was chosen as a finalist in the Personal Blogs category!
Other finalists in the Personal Blogs category are LastLeaf.org, Fight Pompe, Jessica Rules The Universe, and Misteryosa.
Now I have been blogging for almost six and a half years and this is the first time my blog is being officially recognized by an award giving body. There’s even an awards night on March 31, how’s that? It’s not that I have been waiting for a recognition like this all these years, because honestly the traffic and the comments are more than enough ‘recognition’. Needless to say, however, this recognition is highly appreciated also. Hehe.
Good luck to all the finalists!

Bikoy, congrats! Same sentiments here, actually. Hay, it’s honestly hard for me to root for anyone sa finalists (except myself, of course haha). Pero ayos kung ikaw manalo.
But…Jessica Zafra? Rawr!
Good luck, Vic! =)
Brod, congrats to both of us to making it as finalists in our respective categories. Hehe! Good luck to us but being named finalist is recognition enough!
Great job. Congratulations.
Congratulations on making it to the finals. Like you I was surprised to see my blog there as well.
congrats pare… goodluck… nice blog btw, its kinda weird for me reading someone’s life experience because i don’t like reading much, but yours sounds a bit interesting may i say.. good luck ulit.
Oh noes!!! You posted my real name. o_o people might stalk me… or worse ADD ME ON FRIENDSTER!!!
Ironically, I visit four of the five the blogs that were nominated regularly. I think the judges went for variety. 50% of the nominated blogs are probably written well, so the clinchers were niche and the personality behind it.
Jessica Zafra gets major props for being a professional writer with loads of die-hard supporters. Shari relates her personal life with major issues. It also doesn’t hurt that she has a gazillion links. Juan Magdaraog has an amazingly unique niche. No one can ever deny that the power of his words considering where he’s coming from.
And you…You’re a long-time blogger with a cult following despite not being awarded anything in the past. You’re the only one among the five who constantly uses pictures of his personal life be featured on his blog.
I just realized something - THE KABATAAN PARTY LIST is over-represented. lol. Two out of Five?! No fair! lololol.
Good luck.
It’s really hard to say who wins because all five are well-written. Having Jessica Zafra sure in there screws up the bookies - but I still doubt that she would win. I mean, come on, they can’t be that predictable, right?
[…] Bikoy.net is one of the few blogs that I’ve been visiting since I started blogging last year. He has been a blogger for 2001 - that makes him a blogging veteran at the ripe old age of 18. In a previous entry, I even noted that his blog is still very personal in an almost Pinoy Big Brother/ EDTV kind of way. Nowadays, he adds a significant amount of public commentary to the daily dose of his everyday life (and we hardly agree on any issue). There’s something about the way he writes that makes me think that he will be someone special in the future - think this guy. He hasn’t had any recognition from an award giving body since he started blogging so this year could probably be his year. Good luck, Bikoy. […]
Good luck to you.
Congratulations! I think a lot of us were surprised about our blogs making the shortlist. More blessings to you! Brod mo pala si Ivan, sana manalo din yun
Congratulations! May you win this year’s personal category.

Yey kuya bikoy! Congrats!
Alam mo ba na may Carlos Palanca Awardee na nanominate din sa category mo? Wow naman, lumelevel si kuya Bikoy!
Actually that Carlos Palanca Awardee is an alumnus of our school kaya nabalitaan ko. Nameet ko na rin siya personally and he is a great guy. Kaya nga lang hindi siya nagqualify to become one of the finalist. Sayang, he is a really good writer pa naman. eto yung link sa blog niya. http://personalwilli.blogspot.com
Oh well…goodluck and godbless kuya bikoy!
I just realized I don’t agree with the list of nominees. lol. I guess it would be best to keep my orocan article up. For the sake of not making this look like a joke and an exercise in political power-playing, I hope someone deserving wins - i.e. you or three other people. hehe. Good luck again.
wow bikoy congrats!

[…] He wrote on his blog that this is the first time his blog has been recognized by an award-giving body, the Philippine Blog Awards no less, after six years and a half years of blogging. […]
[…] What can the small fish do to be able stand up for themselves, then? Should the fingerlings be content with settling for scraps and be herded by the vicious predators? The sharks can afford to lose a hundreds of razor sharp teeth and still be in fighting shape the next day. They are built to kill. Trying to fight them alone is almost tantamount to suicide. The names of those who dared have gone forgotten through the years, while handful of individuals continue their clandestine planning without much success. Is this progressive ideology doomed to be stashed away in the deepest parts of the sea? […]

Good JOb! Mananalo ka
CSSP girl, wag kang magmaganda. same goes for taga CAL girl.
and bikoy, don’t mind them. nanggugulo lang mga yan.
good luck, i hope you win the blog awards.
i love you.
You’re a good man, Victor. I would want to see you still serve the college, less the title, because people know what you’re capable of. I hope it includes forgiving ‘loser’ for being true to his name. Reading for myself what other people had to say in your defense is a testimonial apiece to who you are.
People take time to read what you have to say and it gets to show that you’re well-respected for the right reasons. Not many people who have your privileged disposition would choose to delve along progressive lines, but you modestly exemplify an alternative student lifestyle with confidence. And I admire that.
This is actually my first time to post a comment in your blog. I’ve noticed that you’ve recently described yourself as ‘disoriented’ many times in different entries here, and the next time that I read that line, I hope it’ll be when you get to receive your blog award. Congratulations Bikoy.
Congratulations! It’s about time that your blog gets recognized. You deserve to be in the finals and who knows, you might just win it.
Hi bikoy! What is IBS?
Anyway, AIT girl, hindi ko na kailangang magmaganda. Matagal na ‘kong maganda.
And please don’t start bitchy quarrel here in bikoy’s blog. Mahiya ka naman kay Bikoy!
Take care always, Bikoy!
I love you!
