UP Gawad Plaridel ‘07
A friend of mine who was part of the production crew in charge of yesterday’s Gawad Plaridel asked me to take photographs of the event.
Gawad Plaridel is an award given annually by the UP College of Mass Communication to acclaimed and outstanding media practitioners who have contributed much to their field with the highest level of professional integrity in the interest of public service.
This year’s awardee is from the field of TV broadcasting, acclaimed broadcast journalist, Ms. Cecilia “Cheche” Lazaro.
Ms. Lazaro’s lecture was enlightening and inspiring at the same time. Her efforts, together with her partners, of putting up Probe Productions, pioneered investigative broadcast journalism in Philippine TV which spawned the emergence of the the many investigative news programs and other public affairs programs we watch today.

I’ve witnessed the Gawad last July 4 at Cine Adarna and I was really inspired by her. She indeed deserves the award! Hi Bikoy, I’m always visiting your site! Keep it up and Good Luck!
Cheche Lazaro is really nice. I had a great time with her and the Probe Crew in Guam and Saipan.

Aside from Cheche Lazaro’s lecture, I was really impressed and inspired by the attempt at production by our Masscomm mates. First time to hold it like a real awards event!! Kudos!
You think it was a smart move to transfer to ABS? SOme say she lost her tough way of reporting … it less probing now.. more on just digging but not deep enough..

Nakita lang. Hehe. Sa harap mismo ng Cine Adarrna. Nakakaintimidate pag yung dating nababasa mo lang ang blog eh nakita mo in person. At oo, may hawak ka ngang kamera noon.
